According to IFCN (Forestry and Nature Conservation Institute), PR1 is open to hikers only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Maintenance work takes place Monday–Thursday.
Yes. From May 1, 2026, PR1 requires a paid ticket via Simplifica (simplifica.madeira.gov.pt). Full trail costs €10.50 per person.
No. Shuttle payment is cash only (EUR).
