Barbara Sorokin is a former ballroom dancer who developed her career over 10 years, achieving A class in 10 dances. During her dance career, she trained in athletics in parallel, which allowed her to develop her all-round skills. After her dance career ended, she became interested in modern dance and fitness. Her passion for sport brought her and Alex together, and today together they form not only a company but also a family, combining a professional approach to training with a love for an active lifestyle. Barbara is responsible for client relations and also creates content for the company's website and blog, promoting Madeira and showing behind-the-scenes of sports camps, life on the island and its tourist attractions.
Alex Sorokin is an experienced player and coach who has been involved in table tennis for more than 40 years. As a player and trainer, he gained experience in Poland, Germany, Russia, Portugal and Finland. He has enjoyed many successes during his career, and currently, in addition to developing his company, he leads the Madeira Youth Table Tennis Team, contributing to the numerous achievements of young players. His professional approach is based on an individual approach to each athlete, where the quality of training is more important than the commercial dimension of the sport. In his spare time, Alex shares his passion for the island as a tour guide in Madeira. His tours are very popular with both individual tourists and organized groups who want to discover the most beautiful corners of the island in the company of someone who knows its history, culture and hidden gems.
The idea for madeira.com.co.uk was born out of a passion for sports and years of experience in the international arena. This is how the company was created, founded by Alex Sorokin and supported by his beloved wife, Barbara. Together they create a place where professionalism, individual development of athletes and the highest quality of services are a priority.
